As we look ahead to 2026, Literacy NRV is preparing for a season of transition - one that comes with both heartfelt goodbyes and exciting new beginnings.

Brittany Hash will be stepping away from her role as Volunteer Coordinator after the birth of her second daughter this winter. Brittany has been a vital part of our team, connecting learners and tutors with warmth, skill, and genuine care. We are so grateful for the impact she’s had on our volunteers and students alike, and we wish her all the best as she embraces this next chapter with her growing family.

“Literacy NRV has changed my life and transformed my heart in ways I never expected. It’s been such a privilege to be a part of a village that offers a safe, loving and accepting environment for every learner, volunteer and staff member. I adore the relationships I’ve built and the experiences they’ve brought. I am still very much dedicated to the mission and look forward to partnering with Literacy NRV in a volunteer role moving forward.”

At the same time, Ginny Ayers will be leaving her role as Executive Director:

"I have made the difficult decision to step down from my role as Executive Director at the end of this year. It has been my pleasure and honor to guide the Literacy NRV family through a period of growth, innovation, and community connection - from expanding English and GED programs to strengthening partnerships across the New River Valley. My deep commitment to literacy and adult education will continue, as I plan to remain part of the team in a part-time capacity, taking over Brittany’s vacated Volunteer Coordinator role during the leadership transition."

For both Brittany and Ginny, these transitions are the result of personal life changes - not a reflection of their commitment to Literacy NRV. Their passion for the mission remains as strong as ever, and they look forward to staying involved through volunteer opportunities.

The Board of Directors is now accepting applications for Literacy NRV’s next Executive Director, with plans to welcome the new leader in January 2026. We invite our community to help spread the word about this exciting opportunity to lead an organization that is changing lives through literacy every day.

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and belief in our mission. Your partnership ensures that Literacy NRV will continue to grow and serve the New River Valley for years to come.
